How to use the ATS résumé checker
Many employers use an applicant tracking system (ATS) to sort résumés before a recruiter reads them. This free checker reviews your résumé the way a screening system and a busy recruiter would, then shows you what to fix. It is built for Indian ex-servicemen moving to civilian jobs, and the same report works for anyone.
How it works
- Upload your résumé. Upload it as a PDF of up to 10 MB and 5 pages. Use the exact version you plan to send.
- Add a job (optional). Paste a job description or an HTTPS job link when you want match scoring and relevance feedback. Leave it blank for a general quality score on structure, writing and ATS basics.
- Sign in and analyse. Signing in is needed to run the analysis, so that your report can be saved to your account.
- Read the report. The report opens when the analysis is finished. Past reports stay in your score history, so you can compare one revision with the next.
What to have ready
- Your résumé saved as a PDF under 10 MB (up to 5 pages). If the file is too large, export it again without images or scanned pages.
- When you want match scoring, the full job description (or a job link we can fetch), including duties, qualifications and skills.
- A text-based PDF is fastest to analyse. Scanned pages are supported too — we run OCR on image-only PDFs when needed.
What the score means
Your score is shown out of 100 on a dial that moves from red through amber to green as the score rises. Treat it as a guide to how clearly your résumé is structured and written. It is not a prediction of whether you will be shortlisted, and different employers configure their ATS in different ways.
Alongside the score, the report shows your word count and reading time, a summary of the layout, the sections it found, specific improvement suggestions, your most common and overused words, and the technical and interpersonal skills it identified, together with skills worth adding. Work through the suggestions first, then upload the revised file and check again.
Wording that matches the job description
A job-specific score rewards plain words that match the advertisement. Service abbreviations are rarely in a civilian job description, so describe your trade or appointment by its function and keep your rank in brackets. Replace the bracketed placeholders with your own figures.
The examples are illustrative, not real people:

Frequently asked questions
Is the ATS résumé checker free?
Yes. There is no charge to score your résumé, with or without a job description.
Do I need to sign in?
Yes, to run the analysis. You can upload your file first, then sign in with Google, with email, or with a passkey.
Which file types are accepted?
PDF only, up to 10 MB and 5 pages. If you have a Word file, save it as a PDF first.
Why is my score low even though my experience is strong?
Usually the experience is there but the wording is hard to read: abbreviations, missing section headings, or skills that do not use the words found in the job description. The suggestions point to exactly these issues.
I do not have a résumé yet. Where should I start?
Use the free résumé builder to create one step by step, then come back and score it.
